RGCLP
- a unique educational venture in the memory of Late Prime
Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was not only the architect of modern
India, but also the harbinger of IT revolution in the country.
RGCLP with private sector participation is
intended to carry forward the vision of the Hon'ble Chief
Minister, Shri Tarun Gogoi, to "Build a Computer Literate
Assam". To translate the vision of the Hon'ble
Chief Minister into reality by harnessing the potential of
IT in improving the quality of services to citizens, the Government
of Assam has launched the Rajiv Gandhi Computer Literacy Programme to impart computer
education in the Higher Secondary and High schools of the
State. The Planning and Development Department and AMTRON,
the State Nodal Agency for Information Technology have embarked
on this ambitious project of providing computer education,
free of cost, to the students of the Government Schools.In
pursuance thereof, AMTRON has entered into a strategic tie
up with NIIT & EDUCOMP leaders in the field of Computer Education,
to achieve
the highest level of excellence in the project. The first of
the Programme covering 200 schools was launched on 19th February,
2004 by Shri Tarun Gogoi, Hon'ble Chief Minister, Assam. The
2nd phase covering additional 200 schools was launched on
27th March, 2005 The 3rd phase covering another 230 schools
was launched on 20th August, 2005 on
the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Late Prime Minister
Rajiv Gandh.i Visualizing the tremendous success of this Programme,
the Govt. of Assam has embarked on the Fourth Phase of RGCLP to provide computer education to 300 High Schools all across
the state - helping students make a big leap towards the computer
savvy world of tomorrow.
